Thanks for your wonderful continued creativity and awesome community support.

Remember that we have a new feature, Zombie City Library, in which community members will explain why they’re saving books from the  apocalypse. I have a few volunteers already, just shout and I’ll add you to the list.

New prompt below. Have fun.

Full rules here:

Please focus on character this week.

Stories will be limited to 2000 characters* (about 300 words), including the title.

*(The field itself will allow for 2050 characters, but this extra 50 characters is only to be used as contingency and it won't be increased).

Use the comment field to post stories, include your story title. Use the reply button on a particular story to provide positive feedback. Press the ‘like’ icon if you like a story.

Sorry about any post confusion last week.

Some incredible stories – well done to all!

New story prompt below. It’s the sort of place that might be in Grind Spark the amazing debut novel from FlashDogs artistic director, Tam Rogers. If you didn’t get a copy already, I highly recommend it. A perfect tale for the times we face at the moment.

I’m loving the leader-board, the ranks, points and awards. Let me know every time you leave a book review for a member of the community (either a participant here or #vss365 or someone you know is part of the extended FlashDogs family) and I’ll start adding special badges to your collection.

Back to the prompt. Have fun.

Zombie City Library

All things #FlashDogs are glorious.

#vss365 is flourishing.

#FlashFeeD is now 13 weeks in and we already have several people ranked at Siberian Husky.

I miss finding out more about people but as we don’t have ‘winners’ we can’t use this as the basis for features or discussions.

So, I’ve created Zombie City Library. A a very far removed tribute to Desert Island Discs.

Every so often I will select someone from the community and ask them the following question:

In the event of an (inevitable) zombie apocalypse, you are sheltered in the city library. You have time to:

  • Save five traditional books (tell us why you’re saving them)
  • Save two indie books (explain)
  • Save one film (explain)
  • Chose two weapons (can be real or fictional – be creative)

Let me know if you want to take part.

Festive greetings to you.

Great to have your Christmas / Santa themed stories last week. Fabulous to see new folk, as always, you are very welcome.

Coming up soon, we will have our very first interview – with flash fiction legend, supreme story-teller and unofficial volunteer Cabury promotional executive for the US,  Rebekah Postupak. I can’t wait.

This week, you have two prompts to chose from. Chose one or chose both – enjoy.

If you can focus on character/s this week, that would be grand.

Any resemblance to Santa is purely coincidental.

Hey, how’s things?

Any Christmas shopping left to do? If you’re like me, you’re normally more organised and are struggling with this whole “I’ve got loads of time left” approach to the looming deadline.

Pull up a chair. Grab a mince pie, and some mulled wine, obviously.

Fancy a festive prompt? I thought so.

Catch-up news.

A warm welcome to some new faces.

A big thank you to old friends.

I’m pleased to say that I finally rescued Sian from the overzealous spam robot this week.

This week.

The clock is ticking in the run-up top Christmas.

Think of those heroic delivery drivers, factory workers and retail folk this time of year.

Think of the very busy postal workers – with this in mind, I give you the prompt for this week.
